There is a fascinating article in the July-August issue of Harvard Magazine entitled "Who Killed the Men of England?" at this link.  The subtitle is "The written record of history meets genomics, evolution, demography and molecular archaeology."  As one commenter quips, the article might be better entitled "Who Raped the Women of England?"
