Doyle Phillips needs help finding the father of Gabriel and John Phillips and has asked us to let everyone know.

From Doyle:

I'll give you $100 U.S. dollars if you can find more about the ancestry (not the descendants) of Gabriel Phillips (d 1809, SC) and his probable brother John Phillips (d 1801, NC). They share the exact same DNA and were both in Loudoun Co, VA at the same time.  Gabriel is first documented in 1758 marriage to Hannah Brower in Bucks County, PA. Of the two, it should be easier to find his birth date/place or his parents.

Be aware: none of the many, many research listings on the internet at this time have documentation for the parentage and birthplaces of Gabriel and John. Indeed, most of the postings are plain wrong both in ancestry and descendancy--so check with me before you go down a time-wasting path.

Almost certainly this Phillips family was of the Quaker religious tradition and were illiterate at the time of Gabriel and John who both signed their wills with an X.  I'll give you all the help I can and will put you on my list of Phillips researchers if you wish, for up-to-date info.  My email address is
